AWM 200 - De Minimis Grant Funding for West Midlands Recycling Firms
Closing date: 31/3/2011
A waste capacity study carried out jointly by Advantage West Midlands (AWM) and the Regional Technical Advisory Body on Waste (RTAB) forecasts that by 2020/21 the West Midlands (WM) will have a significant waste infrastructure capacity gap.
There is no closing date for applications, although funding is finite and available on a first come, first served basis. The programme closes at the end of March 2011, so no further funding will be available after this date. WRAP will aim to provide a response to applicants within a maximum of four weeks of receiving a completed application form and requested documents.
AWM is particularly concerned about commercial and industrial waste (C&I), which can cost a business 4% of turnover in terms of disposal costs. AWM has therefore developed a Waste Infrastructure Development Initiative which has been designed to contribute 300,000 tonnes of C&I waste diversion by 2011/12 at an overall cost of £5.4 million. As part of this initiative, WRAP has received funding from AWM to deliver a programme of support to recycling businesses in the West Midlands.
The programme of support includes grant funding of up to 50% for West Midlands businesses who are investing in new or expanded commercial and industrial waste capacity. Grants of up to 200,00 euros (£187,000) are available for capital costs to collect, recycle or reprocess commercial and industrial waste from the region.
Due to the successful response WRAP has received since the launch of the AWM Programme, we have now fully allocated the available funding for the AWM200 de minimis grant for this year (09/10). Whilst we are still accepting new applications, we are unable to award grants at this present time. Any recommendations to award are currently being placed on to a reserve list, are subject to funding being made available and may also be subject to changes in criteria.
