Mixed Plastics Recycling; Reporting WRAP's work and Future Plans
The Venues:
The next great challenge for plastics recycling is how to sustainably manage the 1 million tonnes per year of additional mixed plastics waste (e.g. trays, pots, bags and films) that passes through the UK domestic bin every year. Following the trials which looked into the waste management options for mixed plastics, WRAP is now holding a dissemination event.

In October 2007 WRAP held a conference on mixed plastics recycling which enabled delegates to explore the issues, share knowledge and stimulate debate.

Aims
What are the aims and benefits of this event?
Domestic non-bottle plastic packaging (mixed plastics) waste presents a big challenge to increasing UK recycling rates. This event aims to disseminate the economic, technology and environmental results of the mixed plastics trials which WRAP has just completed. The conference will also endeavor to explore the barriers and opportunities in this area, while outlining some of the work WRAP is now proposing to take mixed plastics sustainable waste management forward.
Conference speakers from WRAP, local authorities and retailers will be able to provide, first hand, their views and perspectives enabling those attending to have a chance to further explore the issues and share knowledge.
Who should attend?
This conference is open to all those interested in the sustainable waste management of mixed plastics packaging, including:
- retailers and brand owners;
- packaging manufacturers and fillers;
- waste management and reprocessing organisations; and
- local authorities.
What are the costs?
This seminar is free to attend but there are only a limited number of places available so please book early.
