Aims
This course will enable delegates to plan and implement monitoring and evaluation to determine service efficiency and effectiveness.
Target audience
The course is targeted at all individuals who are responsible for carrying out or planning effective monitoring to determine the efficiency and effectiveness of recycling services, waste prevention/minimisation campaigns and local communications.
Duration
2 days residential (Day 1: 11:00 to Day 2: 16:00).
Level
Masters Level (NVQ equivalent 7)
Learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course delegates will be able to:
- analyse and assess the role of monitoring and evaluation in continuous improvement;
- set clear aims and SMART objectives and identify relevant performance indicators;
- identify which aspects of performance need to be monitored;
- identify the key data required to monitor the performance of recycling collection schemes;
- identify the appropriate monitoring methods to obtain the data required and achieve the specified aims and objectives;
- adopt good practice approaches to monitor participation and capture rates and to conduct a survey that will increase understanding of scheme performance;
- interpret data and evaluate how this relates to performance; and
- develop an integrated plan for monitoring the performance of a recycling scheme.

Work-based report
Delegates are required to complete one work-based report and submit this within 3 months of course attendance - see course outline for further details.
Accreditation
CIWM
The course and work based report may contribute two days towards a Graduate’s structured Education & Training Programme or 12 hours towards CPD. Six months free Affiliate Membership is available to delegates who are not already members of CIWM.
Anglia Ruskin University
Completion of this course is recognised as being equivalent to 5 credits at Higher Education (HE) Level 4 (Qualifications Credit Framework QCF Level 7) by Anglia Ruskin University
