Aims

This course aims to enable delegates to develop a contract that will deliver an efficient collection service based on a review and evaluation of the performance of the existing service.

Target audience

This course is targeted at individuals who have experience in recycling service design and delivery, and are seeking an understanding of how to develop contracts to improve service efficiency.

We anticipate that you will have three or more years experience in recycling prior to attending this course.

Duration

3 days residential (Day 1 - 11:00 to Day 3 - 17:00) consisting of two modules:
Optimising collections
The role of contracts

Level

Masters Level (NVQ equivalent 7)

Learning outcomes

Upon successful completion of the course delegates will be able to:

  • identify and assess the factors that contribute to the efficiency of a collection service;
  • evaluate  the efficiency, performance and cost-effectiveness of collection systems and identify changes necessary to improve efficiency of the service consistent with end markets; and
  • lead the development and implementation of effective contract arrangements that incentivise the collection, sorting and supply of materials to end markets.

Pre-course work

Delegates are required to undertake preparation prior to attending the course - see course outline for further details.  

Work-based reports

Delegates are required to complete two tasks,  submitting the first within 1 month of course attendance and the second within 2 months following receipt of results from task 1.  

Accreditation

This course is accredited by CIWM.

The course and work based report may contribute three days towards a Graduate’s Structured Education & Training Programme or 18 hours towards CPD.

Six months free Affiliate Membership is available to delegates who are not already members of CIWM.
