Aims

This course aims to enable delegates to develop effective partnership working with the voluntary and community sector (VCS) to increase recycling and waste prevention/minimisation awareness and activities.

 

Target audience

 

Individuals with responsibility for developing / delivering partnership work with the community sector to contribute to improvements in the delivery of recycling and waste prevention services.

 

Structure

 

1.   Delegates are required to complete pre-course work / reading.

2.   1.5 days residential (Day 1 - 15:30 to Day 2 - 16:00)

3.   Delegates are required to complete one work-based report. The purpose of this is to enable delegates to extend/consolidate the learning gained from the course by applying the knowledge gained / ideas developed during the course to their own work situation and producing an action plan applicable to their work place.

 

Level

 

Masters Level (NVQ equivalent 7)

 

Learning outcomes

 

Upon successful completion of the course delegates will be able to:

 

  • identify & analyse the diversity of VCS activity and its contribution to waste prevention and recycling;
  • assess the roles, responsibilities, motivations and agendas of VCS and local authorities (LAs) and explain how these affect joint working with the VCS;
  • identify, interpret and prioritise the drivers for working with the VCS (including government strategies and policies, direct service delivery and added value benefits);
  • identify and critically evaluate opportunities for, and barriers to, working with the VCS;
  • prepare a plan for developing projects with the VCS and maintaining joint working between LAs & the VCS; and
  • develop a plan to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of working with the VCS.

 

Accreditation

This course is accredited by CIWM

 

The course and work based report may contribute two days towards a Graduate’s Structured Education & Training Programme or 12 hours towards CPD.

 

Six months free Affiliate Membership is available to delegates who are not already members of CIWM.
