WEEE Material Flows Model and Report

2nd February 2016

A model has been developed to enable collection, treatment and reprocessing businesses to understand the flow of Electrical and Electronic Equipment (EEE) products from end of use and point of disposal through treatment and on to material recovery.

Overview

Overview

About 1.5 million tonnes of electrical products are purchased each year by consumers and businesses in the UK. Approximately 30% of this is collected for recycling through the official WEEE system. There is a need to understand the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) recycling market within the UK to enable recycling businesses to identify and plan appropriate treatment and recovery capacity. This study estimates the current and future flows of material in and out of the UK.
