On-site treatment of organic waste

Our guidance into the on-site treatment of organic waste provides information for those who may be considering treating organic waste such as food and/or garden-type wastes on-site.

It is aimed at managers, facilities managers and others within public sector organisations (including schools, hospitals, universities, prisons) and hospitality sector organisations (including hotels, restaurants, pubs and cafés).

An excel ‘decision tool’ also supports this document. This contains a Decision Tree and Technology Matrix which identifies the technologies that appear to best suit your needs. Remember to click the 'enable content' button at the top of the screen.

There is also a series of case studies describing how organisations from the public and hospitality sectors are using different types of technologies to treat their waste on-site.
