Are you a Local Authority Officer looking to improve re-use in your area?  Are you a Re-use organisation or Waste Management Company wanting to work in partnership with your Local Authority to capture more re-usable items from their waste?

Our workshop, based on WRAPs recently published ‘How to Re-use Guides’ will equip you with the knowledge required to take steps to effectively boost re-use. Exploring key themes the morning will focus on how to:

  • Make re-use at strategic priority.
  • Establish a re-use baseline for your area.
  • How to procure re-use services.
  • Set up and run a re-use forum.
  • Produce a re-use action plan.
  • Write a communications plan to boost re-use.

In the afternoon we will focus on how to implement re-use at HWRCs, through bulky waste collections or working with Registered Social Housing Providers.

Aim:
This workshop aims to demonstrate how the ‘How to Re-use Guides’ can be used to boost re-use.  The workshop brings together local authority, third and private sector examples of the process of developing a re-use action plan and implementing good practice.

Participating in the workshop will enable delegates to:

  • Evaluate options to improve re-use services.
  • Plan and implemant changes to services successfully.
  • Implement changes successfully.
  • Market the improved service.
  • Achieve more diversion from waste and increase opportunities for socio-economic benefits.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course the delegates will be able to:

  1. Identify strategic drivers and local motivations for re-use.
  2. Appraise various options for improving re-use and engaging with key stakeholders.
  3. Implement change by action planning, including establishing a baseline and monitoring progress.
  4. Communicate re-use through effective planning and access to free tools and templates.
