Market Snapshot: June 2018

24th July 2018

WRAP's Market Snapshot provides an overview of recent developments in recovered material markets and is updated on a regular basis.

Key points:
The markets for recovered paper and plastic have been buoyant during the second quarter of 2018. Prices for many of the grades affected by Chinese import restrictions have increased sharply as alternative export destinations have been found
Concern is growing that these economies may also introduce import restrictions. In late June the government of Thailand announced that it would ban all recovered plastics from entering its ports.
• WRAP’s annual Gate Fees Survey estimated that the median MRF gate fee negotiated in the past year was £35 per tonne, up from £29 per tonne the previous year
