    WRAP is encouraging building companies and other suppliers in the Thames Gateway development to make the project a showcase for construction waste recycling. By providing advice and support to construction clients and the supply chain WRAP can help the industry to manage and minimise construction waste and use recycled products and materials. more

    Paper

    Girl holding stack of newspapersWRAP helped fund a paper recycling project managed by The Apsley Paper Trail in Hertfordshire collecting paper from schools in the area. The £500,000 funding aims to divert 10,000 tonnes per annum of paper waste from landfill and involve over 500 schools. more

    Construction and demolition waste

    Walton on Thames company General Recycling received a £109,000 grant from WRAP to produce recycled aggregates from construction, demolition and excavation waste.

    Business support

    Generic business image purchased from stock library.Surrey lighting tube recyclers Enlightened lamp secured assistance through WRAP’s Business Support Services to fund an independent consultant experienced in the recycling industry to develop their business plan. The consultant helped build a detailed strategy which led to the production of a full investment ready business plan. more

    Leasing equipment

    WRAP assisted recycling company Recresco to lease equipment at their Southampton site to assist with their glass recycling processes. This allowed Recresco to expand their business and improve throughput and efficiency at their site. more

    mixed class containersBrighton based company Eight Inch had assistance through WRAP’s IPR scheme to allow them to secure a formal licenceing agreement and trademarking for their recycled glass content work surfaces. more

    Composting

    Albingdon based company Green biologics who specialise in microbial fermentation also had assistance from WRAP’s IPR scheme to allow them to patent a special kind of microbe used in fast composting processes. more

    Management support

    Generic business image purchased from stock library.Surrey based recycling company Reco-Vie has had assistance from WRAP’s Interim Manager Scheme to allow them to achieve desired growth within the business without disrupting day to day activities. The company was introduced to the scheme by SEEDA (South East England Development Agency). more

Following the successful integration of plastic bottles into their kerbside collection Bracknell Forest Borough Council have experienced an increase in the recycling of other heavier materials.
