Using Compost in the Thames Gateway
The key aim of the project is to develop new end markets fpr green waste compost within the Thames Gateway area, specifically for use in brownfield regeneration activities.
Background
The regeneration of Thames Gateway brownfield sites represents an unrivalled opportunity to demonstrate the use of all grades of PAS100 compost in both bioremediation and landscaping applications. This project includes research trials of the use of compost in bioremediation, a market assessment for its use in the Thames Gateway region and the development of an interactive topsoil mixing software package.
Objectives
To demonstrate, document and assess the effectiveness of green waste compost to remediate contaminated land.
To develop, document and demonstrate how green waste compost can be used to manufacture and improve soil.
To assess, quantify and document the potential for greenwaste compost in land regeneration markets within the Thames Gateway region.
To develop new market opportunities for compost by encouraging the procurement of PAS 100 compost for land regeneration projects.
