The Waste & Resources Action Programme (WRAP) and the East Midlands Development Agency (EMDA) have worked in partnership to produce this Recyclate Market Development Study and Action Plan for the East Midlands. The need for market development activities was identified as one of the ten priority waste issues within the East Midlands Regional Waste Strategy published by the East Midlands Regional Assembly (EMRA) in January 2006.
The study aims to identify market development activities that would support the economic development objectives of the East Midlands. Chapters 1 to 7 assess regional waste arisings; existing infrastructure capacity and gaps; markets for recyclates and support for these markets; and recommendations for market development within the East Midlands Region. Chapter 8 draws these recommendations into an action plan for the region. A preferred location/target audience for the activity is provided, together with a lead organisation and delivery partners.
