Waste prevention advice

The advisory service is fully funded and support is customised to the specific needs of individual local authorities.  If you think you can benefit from our support please complete an application form.  We will follow up applications with discussions to identify the appropriate types of support.

Our experience to date indicates that the most successful waste prevention programmes are run at county or partnership level.  The support available covers:

  • Strategic advice on the development of waste prevention plans
  • Quantifying the benefits of waste prevention
  • Evaluating previous and current activities

We have to target our resources to best effect.  Our priorities are:

Increasing recycling - to work with authorities who are looking to increase their recycling rates and those who are planning or considering changes to their waste and recycling services.

Food waste collection - we want to work with authorities who are planning or considering a food waste collection service.

Waste prevention - providing support to partnerships (or areas) with a significant population that are committed to prioritising waste prevention and reducing food waste.
