Our programme of support covers:
Advisory support
The focus of our advisory support is planning and delivering collection service changes covering:
- Procuring new collection/recycling services or materials sorting contracts;
- Service changes, for example, if you are thinking of introducing new services or extending the range of materials collected, e.g. food, plastic packaging, textiles;
- Developing or improving business waste collections;
- Marketing dry recyclables;
- Service review; and
- Advice on collecting for reuse.
We can provide support to local partnerships to increase the collection of bulky items and textiles for reuse, particularly in conjunction with third-sector organisations.
In addition to advisory support, WRAP continues to work with Recycle for London to deliver borough specific, targeted communications support (funding and/or advice) linked to service improvements.
Requests for advisory support should be made using the form Application for support (England) (160 kb)
.
Funding for communications is only available to London authorities under the Recycle for London programme and London councils should use the Application form for London boroughs (288 kb)
.

Good practice information and evidence
As well as research and good practice information we have produced to date we will be working on some new areas including textiles, reward schemes and recycling-on-the go where we will pull together:
- Information on collection options;
- Different delivery models; and
- Develop communication resources.
Training
Training is an important part of our support to local authorities. There isa range of courses available and for the time being they continue to be fully funded. Sometimes it can be useful for officers to attend a WRAP training course in conjunction with the delivery of advisory support.
If you require more information please contact training@wrap.org.uk or call 01295 819665.
Collaborative working
Support is also provided by iESE and a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between WRAP and iESE ensures our support programmes are aligned and complementary. Key areas of support and lead organisation are given in an iESE WRAP welcome statement (222 kb)
and you can read the full text of the MoU WRAP iESE MoU June 2011 (382 kb) ![]()
