Zero waste places

The Zero Waste Places initiative was outlined in the Waste Strategy, England 2007 and was launched in October 2008.

Zero Waste is defined as:

"A simple way of encapsulating the aim to go as far as possible in reducing the environmental impact of waste. It is a visionary goal which seeks to prevent waste occurring, conserves resources and recovers all value from materials."

In 2008/09 six path finder projects were selected to work towards zero waste.  More information on these projects, including case studies, is available from the path finder projects menu.

In 2009/10 seven path finder projects were selected to work towards zero waste. These projects are in the process of being evaluated, but for an over of their work go to the projects menu.
