Dry recycling and food waste collections from schools

We have compiled some case studies to demonstrate different approaches to collecting dry recyclables and food waste from schools. They detail how each scheme operates, how the scheme is communicated to schools and how it is measured and tonnage achieved.

There are four case studies and each one details a different approach.

  • Dedicated recycling collection round run exclusively for schools - Thurrock Council
  • School collections run as an extension to household kerbside recycling service - Staffordshire Moorlands DC
  • School collections offered as part of collection round for county council premises - Gloucestershire County Council
  • Dedicated food waste collection round run exclusively for schools - London Borough of Islington
