Description of trial area:
9,000 properties in Chadderton and Shaw areas of Oldham. Housing stock is a typical cross section of the borough, including terrace and difficult to access properties. Predominantly urban area. Food waste collection provided as part of managed weekly collections service.

Initially 26 per household. Further liners can be bought at local outlets in each area.

Refuse Collection - frequency and containers used:
Weekly wheeled bin collection. However, in trial area of 9,000 properties recycling in brown wheeled bins is collected one week, residual collected the other week, and food waste collected weekly.

Recycling Collection - frequency and containers used:
Fortnightly collection of glass, cans and plastic bottles in a 55 litre black box. Fortnightly collection of mixed paper and cardboard in a re-usable sack. In trial area the glass, cans and plastic bottles are collected in a 240 litre wheeled bin.
