Description of trial area:
6,000 houses in 5 towns across Mid Bedfordshire District Council. Around 1,200 properties in the following towns are being covered: Cranfield, Flitwick, Shefford, Sandy and Potton. The collections cover a wide range of relatively low density housing stock (see pictures) in semi rural locations.

Liners provided:
2 rolls of biobags distributed with the bins. Once supply has been depleted more can be obtained by calling Mid Beds District Council who will then deliver to the households.

Existing garden waste collections:
Residents in Mid Bedfordshire currently have their green waste collected in two reusable polypropylene sacks. They are collected free of charge every two weeks at the same time as the dry recyclables.  

Refuse Collection – frequency and containers used:
Mid Bedfordshire operate alternate weekly collections. Black wheelie bins are used for residual waste which is collected on alternate weeks to the recycling bins.

Recycling Collection – frequency and containers used:
Dry recyclables are collected alternate weekly at the same time as the garden waste. Green lidded wheelie bins or orange bags are used for the collection of dry recyclables.
