Online Recycling Information System (ORIS)

ORIS is a series of interactive and searchable maps.

There are three sets of maps to choose from:

Household recycling services

Here you will find information relating to local authority recycling performance across the UK. There is also information to help indentify local authorities operating similar kerbside collection services.

Schools recycling services

Use the maps to find details on recycling collection services available for schools in England and on communications and education services offered to schools.

Municipal Materials Recycling Facilities (MRFs)

Use the maps to find details of MRFs by region, plus details of the material streams they accept, their throughput capacities and the output materials they produce.

What are the Online Recycling Information interactive maps?
Household recycling services
- Interactive maps relating to local authority recycling performance in the UK.
- Search the maps to identify local authorities operating similar kerbside collection schemes
- Understand the relative performance of different types of schemes and material types
- At a regional level, look at overall recycling performance, dry recyclables diversion rate, the diversion rate of packaging materials (overall and for different materials), organic waste diversion and overall BVPI performance.
- Descriptive information on scheme types for dry recyclables and organic waste (including separate food waste collections) is also presented.
Schools recycling services
- Interactive maps showing the provision of recycling services for schools in England
- Search the maps to identify details of how recycling collection services operate in different local authority areas
- Descriptive information about the types of communication and education services offered to schools in different local authority areas
