6,000 households in urban inner city high rise properties.

Liners provided and distributed through community group

Support supplied by WRAP:
Purchase of caddies and liners.  Purchase of wheeled bins.  Staff and vehicle costs.  Assistance with communication.  Monitoring and Evaluation.

Farid Mirco - 7.5 tonne 5 cubic meter body

IVC facility being used and location:
Rocket system through East London Community Recycling Partnership (ELCRP)

Background information


Local authority size:
207,700 population.  95,483 households.

Existing food waste collection:
Yes, weekly kerbside from 51,000 low rise properties. Some weekly door step collections from high rise (5,000 households)

Existing garden waste collection:
15,000 households have free fortnightly collection of green waste using 240,180 and 140 litre wheeled bins

Refuse collection – frequency, and containers used:
Weekly using black sack, some wheeled bins (only around 8,000 households). Estate properties have paladin and eurobin communal bins

Recycling collection – frequency andcontainers used: 
Low rise – weekly 55 litre box

Estates – 5,000 have weekly doorstep with reusable sack

5,000 have orange disposable sack weekly
