Trial Facts
WRAP is working with 12 partners in 13 local authority areas across the UK to run household battery recycling trials from March 2006
- 350,000 UK households will be part of these initial household batteries collection trials
- Used household batteries will be collected from doorstep/kerbside for recycling
The following areas, or parts of, are participating in the first phase of the household battery collection schemes:
- Aberdeenshire
- Barnsley
- Caerphilly
- East Devon
- Eastleigh
- Falkirk
- Harlow
- Stockton on Tees
- Armagh
- Banbridge
- Calderdale
- Liverpool
- Trafford

- Households will be provided with either a box or sealable bag in which to store their used or unwanted batteries
- Batteries will be collected at the same time as the existing recycling collection service. Depending on location this will be either weekly, fortnightly, monthly or quarterly
- The household batteries collection trials will make battery recycling easy for the general public to do
A second phase of trial research focusing on drop-off or take-back facilities will take place later in the year
