Working with Community Groups

WRAP’s Behavioural Change Local Fund (BCLF) allocated £500,000 to the Community Sector to change behaviour and increase participation by the public in their local recycling services through effective communication.

The resources made available through the BCLF were:

  • Events Kits
  • Project Funding
  • Web based resources

Events Kits

BCLF produced and supplied 62 Events Kits to Community Groups throughout England. The kits consist of a number of items branded with RecycleNow iconography (the national recycling campaign) such as display panels and leaflet dispensers. The kits are designed to be used by groups at community events to promote local recycling services to the public.

Project Funding

18 Community Groups received funding to undertake communications activities promoting local recycling services within the community.  The activities ranged from leaflets, newsletters and posters through to door-to-door canvassing.  The projects took place during March and November 2007.

Web based resources

Through the recycle now partners website www.recyclenowpartners.org.uk anyone from a community organisation, large or small, can use the Recycle Now branding to promote their recycling activities. There are helpful tips on how to get the best out of using the branding and there is free access to hundreds of downloadable photos, logos and icons to help your campaign or promotion.
