Measuring to manage: water consumption of a primary school

In this example the water consumption of a primary school was measured by continuous logging of the incoming water supply meter over a period of time.
  • Monitoring indicated flows during the unoccupied period between 7pm and 7am of around 2.50m3/hour.
  • The cost of wasted water amounts to around £24,000 per year – far more than the cost of repairing leaks, adjusting urinals and installation of occupancy sensors to shut off washrooms when unoccupied.
Measuring and monitoring of resource consumption is an important facet of Resource Management within your facilities.
