River Don project wins Flood Risk Management Award
The Centenary Riverside wetlands regeneration project that runs alongside the River Don in Sheffield has won the Flood Risk Management category at the 2010 Waterways Renaissance Awards run by The Waterways Trust and BURA (British Urban Regeneration Association). The project is in part supported by WRAP to trial the use of BSI PAS 100 compost blankets to stabilise sloped embankments on-site and the use of compost socks to protect the river bank.
Harper Adams green roof highly commended in Green Gown awards
Shropshire-based Harper Adams College has been highly commended in the Environmental Association for Universities and Colleges’ (EAUC) 2010 Green Gown Awards for its commitment to sustainable construction. The green roof installed on the low-carbon timber framed building, has been developed in with support from WRAP and Vital Earth, and is designed to enhance biodiversity and improve insulation.
