Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the workshop participants will be able to:

1. Appreciate and understand the drivers for food waste collections; 
2. Understand the different collection systems and their key performance differentials;
3. Understand the infrastructure requirements & available options for hh food waste collections;
4. Understand the relationship between the cost of a food waste collection service and the costs of the rest of an authority’s household waste collection & disposal costs;
5. Understand the importance of maximising participation if the cost of a food waste service is to be minimised;
6. Understand the importance of clear and effective communications in household food waste collections;
7. Recognise the need for more targeted communications employing different techniques for flats and hard to reach household;
8. Understand that the collection of food waste is governed by specific legislative requirements that a collection service will be required to address;
9. Understand the importance of an implementation plan that fully addresses the tasks required to implement a food waste collection service from project inception to the commencement of collections.
