Hotspots Analysis and Sustainability Information: Phase 2 Launch
Work has started on Phase 2 of the UNEP/SETAC Life Cycle Initiative: Flagship Project 3a - ‘Hotspots Analysis and Sustainability Information’
The project seeks to develop a flexible methodological framework for product and sector level hotspots analysis, to support 10YFP stakeholders in their prioritization efforts to accelerate a shift towards Sustainable Consumption and Production.
While hotspots analysis is proving to be a helpful and effective tool that assists in the identification of areas to be prioritised for action, there is currently no common hotspots analysis approach. A lack of consistency due in part to:
- Absence of a recognised set of guiding principles and practices
- Lack of a globally agreed methodological framework
- Need for agreement on the appropriate use and communication of product sustainability information derived from hotspots analysis
The workshops and webinars are supported through the International Climate Initiative (IKI). The Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUB) supports this initiative on the basis of a decision adopted by the German Bundestag.
