Guardians of Grub is a new campaign aimed at empowering professionals from across the hospitality and food service sector to reduce the amount of food thrown away in their establishments.

The campaign is suitable for everyone in the sector, from Michelin star restaurants to local pubs;  wherever food is served to order. It is about making simple, low-cost changes to the way food is bought, prepared and served that can help reduce the amount of food needlessly thrown away.

A suite of free Guardians of Grub resources is now available that businesses can use to tackle food waste, including information posters and how-to guides, and a free calculator to record the changes being made.

Alongside the suite of materials, a campaign toolkit is available for supporting bodies, trade associations and other influencers in the sector to help embed good business practice. Leaders in the sector have already pledged their support, including the British Beer and Pub Association), the Federation of Wholesale Distributors, the Sustainable Restaurant Association and UKHospitality.
