Dr Liz Goodwin OBE, receives the prestigious Editor’s Award at the MRW National Recycling Awards

2nd July 2015

Dr Liz Goodwin OBE, CEO of WRAP, received the Editor’s Award (previously known as the Lifetime Achievement Award) at the MRW National Recycling Awards, last night. The event, hosted by Material Recycling World (MRW) magazine’s Editor, Robin Latchem, noted that she had led her organisation through ‘profound’ change, with WRAP becoming a charity and increasingly, being recognised abroad.

Liz, said:

“I’m honoured to receive this award. I have the privilege of leading a fantastic organisation of dedicated, passionate people. And we in turn have been fortunate to work with many great partners – those who actually implement and do things on the ground – including many of you in this room. I am very proud of what WRAP has helped deliver – by focusing on evidence and then working in the grey space between government, business and communities to bring about real, lasting change.”

In her acceptance speech, she also spoke of what personally motivates her in her field of work. She expressed a concern that people like her niece and nephew will face huge challenges to the security of goods, with dwindling resources and increasing populations. Liz explained her “moral obligation” to help give the next generation a chance to enjoy lifestyles that we may take for granted today.
