Clare Whelan has worked extensively in Westminster for individual Members of Parliament and as the Director of political pressure groups. Clare is an adviser to the Local Government Association (LGA) on the recruitment and retention of councillors. In May 2014 she stood down from Lambeth Council where she had served as a Councillor for 24 years. She has a long track record of working on environmental issues as a Member of the LGA Environment Board until May 2014 and chairing Lambeth’s Climate Change Commission. Other previous roles include Cabinet Member for Environment at Lambeth, serving on the Western Riverside Waste Authority, and a contributor to David Cameron’s Quality of Life group which advised on environmental policy. She is a member of the Advisory Board of the Associate Parliamentary Sustainable Resource Group. Clare is a Deputy Lieutenant for Greater London.
