Business Recycling and Waste Services Commitment - next steps

Here is some useful information around what to do once you have decided to sign up to the commitment. See below for a full list of all the signatories.

I've decided to sign up - now what do I do?

  • Download the commitment and edit it.
  • Secure senior management and/or councillor sign off. We’ve developed a presentation which might help you with this process.
  • Let us know you have signed up so we can add you to our wall of fame.
  • Consider how you can share your good news with local businesses, your colleagues and other organisations.

Promotions might include:

  • putting information on your website;
  • letting your local media know by sending out a press release (our Business Recycling and Waste Services Commitment template press release may help!);
  • an e-communication to businesses;
  • distributing flyers;
  • putting information on invoices or other documents;
  • making a presentation at business network events;
  • informing your colleagues and other stakeholders through communication channels such as newsletters, e-zines, intranet, meetings and emails;
  • drafting a follow-up press release to showcase the on-going developments and progress against the principles; and
  • ensuring the information you have is included in any awards or quality standard submissions that you are applying for.
