Brownfield case study - Lanarkshire

Manorlane, the Stirling-based housing developer, was committed to adopting environmentally friendly practices in their developments across Scotland. Using recycled material such as quality compost to create a topsoil was therefore an important aspect of the project.

A mixture of quality compost and soil loam was used to create a rich topsoil for application at the 51-home development near Motherwell. The compost was spread in stages, across Manorlane’s six-acre development to help promote long-lasting plant and turf growth in front and back gardens and public areas. The beneficial properties of compost application were evident just two weeks after laying the turf.
