Materials Resource Efficiency in Construction

The construction industry is one of the UK's most productive sectors.

It is also the biggest consumer of material resources – some 420 million tonnes/year. Reflecting this, various Government bodies have recommended that in the future, at least 10% of the materials value of a construction project should come from re-used, reclaimed or recycled content.

These figures show how well placed the industry is to play a leading role in making more efficient use of materials, and this website provides both strategic guidance and practical tools to help the industry to respond to the challenge.

WRAP Support

WRAP is working closely with every level of the construction supply chain to demonstrate the business case for recycled content and other materials resource efficiency measures and to show how they can be delivered without compromising on cost, risk, performance or supply availability.
