A review of this 12-storey, reinforced concrete frame construction during the structural, internal and fit out phases, identified that waste recovery rates were significantly higher than standard industry practice for most of the waste streams, with good practice achieved for plasterboard and timber wastes and exceeded for packaging waste.

The most significant way of increasing the overall recovery performance for the project would be through Quick Win good practice for miscellaneous waste - 50% recovery here would result in an overall performance of 67%.

Key facts;

  • 62% overall recovery of waste materials was acheived.
  • 69% overall recovery could have been achieved through Quick Win good practice focussed on miscellaneous and metal wastes.
