Organics Market Situation Report

The cover of the Organics Market Situation Report, April 2008,

WRAP's recently published Organics Market Situation Report contains up-to-date facts and figures on volumes and prices, plus independent analysis of the key issues and challenges facing the markets for recovered organic waste and compost.  Key themes to emerge from the sector in the past year include:

  • kerbside collections now account for the majority of organic material recovered from the municipal waste stream;
  • recovery of source segregated organic wastes continuing to grow at more than 20 per cent per annum;
  • food waste collections increasing rapidly, albeit from a low base;
  • rising landfill tax rates set to continue these trends going forward; and
  • higher chemical fertiliser prices and demand for peat-free composts supporting compost prices in the face of rising supply.

You can download a copy of the Organics Market Situation report.
