The aim of WRAP’s SME recycling programme is to increase and improve recycling services for small to medium enterprises (SMEs). SMEs can find it difficult to recycle the waste they generate for a variety of reasons and the SME recycling programme aims to develop services that make recycling at work easy, convenient and cost effective for SMEs.
The programme is funded by Defra's Business Resource Efficiency and Waste (BREW) Programme, with supporting contributions from the devolved administrations of Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales.

A series of recycling collection feasibility and demonstration trials for Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs) throughout the country have clearly shown that businesses can recycle effectively, regardless of their size, locaton or specific requirements.
This evaluation report brings together and evaluates the findings from a series of feasibility trials and draws conclusions that can be used by recycling service providers in the development and expansion of recycling services for small to medium enterprises.
The SME Recycling Programme was set up in 2004 to investigate a range of factors to improve and increase recycling of SMEs.
Unfortunately WRAP has now received notification from Defra that funding for next year is being significantly reduced - a 30% cut on this years funding. In view of this we have taken the decision not to continue with the SME Recycling Programme and the funding support scheme.
