Together... making it happen
20 May 2008
I attended the event to mark the first anniversary of the The Together Campaign last week - held at Lambeth Palace and hosted by the Archbishop of Canterbury. WRAP has joined the campaign and I'm delighted that we have done so because I really do think that we need collective action to address the issues of climate change and making better use of our resources.
I was struck by the comments around the table from other organisations.
Many of them are commercial organisations but they realise that they need to make sustainability part of the way in which they run their businesses - so it isn't just a budget line that gets cut at times of economic downturn - it actually becomes part of their mainstream thinking.
This was very encouraging but how do we get greater momentum? - we need more organisations to think like this and we then need to ensure that the environment is such that they can make it happen and that we really do start to reduce carbon emissions and make better use of our resources.
I came away more determined than ever that WRAP must do all it can to work with its many partners to help create the right environment, demonstrate what is possible and help to make it a reality.
